Ceramics lessons

I've been offering ceramics courses in my own studio in Andijk since 2025. One can choose between pottery wheel throwing or hand-building, learning techniques step by step and creating your own pieces.

Groups are small: for throwing lessons, the maximum size is four students, ensuring plenty of personal attention. Each student has a wheel, giving them plenty of opportunity to practice.

Another option besides throwing lessons is hand-forming. This is sometimes overlooked because pottery seems so magical, but hand-building offers an infinite range of possibilities. Anything you can create on a potter's wheel can also be shaped by hand.

A workshop is the perfect way to get acquainted with clay. In a short series of lessons or a one-time workshop, you'll learn a specific skill or technique. Workshops are playful and practical: you work with your hands, you see results quickly, and you often take home a piece of your own creation. They're ideal as a first introduction, but also a great way to deepen your knowledge for those who have worked with clay before and want to practice a specific technique.

Take, for example, the six-lesson Christmas workshops in November. In the run-up to the holidays, there's nothing more fun than making something for the tree or the Christmas table. During a Christmas workshop, you'll work with clay to create unique ornaments, candle holders, or small gifts that you can decorate entirely to your own taste. Your work will then be fired and glazed, so it's not only beautiful for the holidays but also lasts longer.

Not everyone wants to commit to a full course right away, so I also offer one-time activities. These are flexible opportunities where you decide how and what you want to learn.

Examples of possibilities

  • Family Day
  • Team building - for max. 8 people hand shaping or 8 people for a mix of hand shaping and turning.
  • Children's or birthday parties – a creative afternoon for up to 8 children
  • Private lessons – personal guidance, completely tailored to your needs.
  • Trial lesson – experience whether ceramics is for you, without immediately taking a course.

A week of clay, sun and inspiration
Working with clay while the sun shines, the sea is nearby, and you can take a dip in the pool. During a ceramics holiday in Rhodes, you can escape the hustle and bustle of everyday life and immerse yourself in creativity.

You will stay in one of the rooms in the beautiful 150-year-old family property The Dream House , but it is also possible to book a studio or an old house, both close to the Dream House, through us at a reduced rate.

There is yoga in the morning, followed by sufficient throwing hours, relaxation time, meal, optional throwing again and ending the day together.

The retreats will take place every year in April, May, June, September and October starting in 2026 .
