Courses

At Ceramicaza in Andijk, we offer a wide range of courses for anyone who wants to work with clay.
You can choose between hand-building and wheel-throwing, with classes for adults as well as children. I work with small groups, so there is plenty of personal guidance for technique — and just as much space for fun.
Perfect for starting out, growing your skills, or simply escaping the daily rush for a couple of hours.

Ceramics for adults

What do you learn in a beginner’s wheel-throwing course?

In the beginner’s course, you learn the basics of throwing on the potter’s wheel step by step. We start at the very beginning: how to prepare your clay and how to centre it on the wheel — an essential, sometimes challenging part of the process, but also very meditative. From there, you move on to pulling cylinders, shaping bowls, and adding simple forms and details.

What do you learn in a beginner’s hand-building course?

In this course, you learn the basic techniques of hand-building with clay — without a wheel. You work with your hands, simple and more advanced tools, and various construction methods. You learn how to shape clay, build hollow forms, add textures, and attach different pieces of clay together.
You can work figuratively (for example a head, animal, or human figure) or abstract and free — whatever suits you.

Ceramics for young people

Children's and youth ceramics lessons

For children aged 8 to 12, the focus is on imagination, play, and experimentation. We create animals, monsters, castles, bowls, hands, and wonderfully quirky things. We roll, knead, push, and shape with our hands – and sometimes they can try the potter’s wheel. Every child works in their own way and at their own pace.

For young people aged 12 to 16, the themes become a bit freer — there’s room for personal ideas, inspiration from art or social media, and occasionally a deeper look at form and design. We mainly work with hand-building (because you can go in any direction with it), but wheel-throwing is possible now and then as an extra challenge.

Throughout the sessions — and especially at the end — we decorate, fire, glaze or further refine the pieces. This way, they take home something that captures this moment in their youth, or a handmade gift to surprise family or friends.
It’s never about perfection — it’s about their own handwriting in clay.
